Jobs Overview
A job is the core unit of work in the Engineer App. Everything engineers do revolves around jobs - receiving them, completing them, and getting paid for them.
What is a Job?
A job represents a piece of work at a customer's property. Each job includes:
- Customer details - Name, address, contact information
- Requirements - What needs to be done including photos from the customer
- Materials - What materials the customer has been sent ahead of time that the engineer will require to do the job
- Schedule - Date and (sometimes) ETA time slot
Job Eligibility
To receive job offers, engineers must meet two key requirements:
1. Approved Product Application
Engineers must have an approved application for the relevant product type. For example:
- Boiler installation jobs require an approved Boiler application
- EV charger jobs require an approved EV Charger application (which itself requires an approved Electrical application)
- Heat pump jobs require an approved Heat Pump application (which requires an approved Boiler application)
Engineers will only see job offers for products they're approved to work on. If an application is rejected, paused, or not yet submitted, no jobs for that product will be offered.

2. Valid Qualifications
Engineers must maintain valid qualifications and documents for their approved products. Documents fall into different categories based on their expiry behaviour:
| Date Type | Behaviour | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| Expiry | Must be renewed before the expiry date | Gas Safe Card, FGAS Certificate, MFT Calibration |
| Issue | Validity inferred from issue date (typically doesn't block jobs) | DBS Check, Working at Heights |
| Pass | Never expires once passed | NVQ Level 3, AM2 Practical Exam |
Critical documents with Expiry dates will pause jobs for that product if they expire. Documents with Pass or Issue date types are typically non-expiring and won't block jobs once uploaded.

Regional Offers
In addition to standard job offers, engineers may receive regional offers - job opportunities broadcast to all eligible engineers in a geographic area. These are competitive offers where the first engineer to accept gets the job.
Regional offers are sent regardless of your availability settings and can be declined without penalty.

Job Types
Jobs fall into five categories:
| Type | Description | Example |

| Repair | Fixing broken equipment | Boiler not firing |
| Service | Routine maintenance | Annual boiler service |
| Callout | Emergency visits | No heating/hot water |
